Democrats did it to Themselves
Both Trump terms are a direct result of the Democratic Party choosing to block Bernie Sanders from the nomination, thereby gambling the election with unpopular candidates. The DNC elites are to blame!
Joe Biden received 81 million votes in 2020, Kamala got 68 million in 2024. Trump got 74 million votes in 2020 versus 72 million in 2024. Trump didn’t win this election, the Democrats lost. Trump retained most of his base, but Kamala Harris got 13 million fewer votes than Joe Biden. That was not because of racism, sexism, election interference, or the fault of any demographic the DNC will try to scapegoat. The DNC is an anti-democratic organization responsible for giving us 8 years of Trump all because they chose to risk losing to him by running unpopular candidates rather than support the Bernie movement. Trump’s first term was a direct result of the Democratic Party choosing to block Bernie Sanders from earning the nomination and now Trump’s second term is a result of the Democrats refusing to hold any sort of primary process at all. More than anyone else, DNC elites are to blame!
Trump 2024 was incredibly predictable; I warned the Democrats to start taking the threat seriously over a year ago. While watching Democrats slow-walk America into a 2nd Trump term, I recommended a vastly different path be taken by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. I believe my recommendations would’ve won the Democrats the Presidency plus both chambers of Congress. Sadly Democrats and DNC leadership made horrible political decisions and cost themselves this election.
First of all Joe Biden was clearly too old, forgetful, and frail to run for a 2nd term and that was undeniably obvious over a year ago. In June of 2023 I was advocating for Joe Biden to participate in a Democratic Primary to prove his cognitive fitness to voters while helping to popularize the Democrats platform and possible leadership. I said,
“The most inspiring part of the 2020 election cycle was the Democratic primary which featured 11 debates and almost 30 candidates. The Democratic primaries were the main format where leftwing ideas and solutions to America’s problems actually got discussed…The 2020 DNC primary offered an opportunity to critically engage with a wide array of leftwing perspectives and reevaluate what it even meant to be a Democrat. To miss that opportunity to compare leftwing ideas and visions for our nation in 2024 is a political mistake; Biden and all future incumbent candidates should participate in primary debates.
A primary most likely won’t change his nomination for this election, but it could benefit the Democratic Party for years to come by putting their candidates and values into the spotlight. In the last primary, candidates like Pete Buttigieg went from obscurity to a common household name; that’s the power primaries have. They also have another power; influencing Congressional elections. Right now there are 49 Republicans in the Senate alongside 48 Democrats as well as 3 Independents that caucus with the Democrats. Which is troubling for the Biden Administration because, “there are 33 U.S. Senate seats up for regular election in 2024—10 seats held by Republicans, 20 held by Democrats, and three held by independents who caucus with Democrats” (Ballotpedia). There are some positives for Biden to participate in a DNC primary, but there is another more important reason Democrats should be demanding a primary; Biden’s age.
During the 2020 Democratic primary, Biden…argued that he was the most electable, well-known Democrat making him the best fit candidate to oust Trump. Many Democratic voters were determined to get rid of Trump and reluctantly accepted that Biden was the person to do it. But even in that election there were fears regarding Biden’s advanced age and cognitive fitness to be President. In one of those 2020 primary debates, Eric Swalwell recanted going to a Presidential campaign speech 36 years earlier and listening to the then Senator urging older candidates to pass the torch to a new generation of leaders. That candidate from 36 years earlier was Joe Biden; then Swalwell asked Biden to finally step aside and “pass the torch” (PBS). Biden refused and eventually became President by reassuring Democrats that he would almost certainly only serve one term to act as a transition away from the Trump years.
After giving the impression that he'd only serve 1 term due to his age, Biden has a responsibility to reassure voters that he is mentally and physically fit enough to serve as President. He has an even more pressing responsibility to Democratic voters to prove it in the primary rather than risk it in the general election. A DNC primary would have many benefits. It would engage the American electorate with perspectives from within the Democratic Party as well as offer Biden the opportunity to demonstrate his mental fitness before getting into the general election. Aside from a true lack of mental or physical ability, why would Biden and the DNC miss that opportunity?”
Why Biden Should Participate in a Democratic Primary- Philosophical Rebellion
Imagine if last year Joe Biden would’ve just been willing to participate in a democratic process in a Democratic primary. If he were halfway competent as the incumbent President then primary debates would’ve served as pure political theater to promote himself and fellow democrats while talking about the DNC platform to America. He chose not to do that, probably because his campaign chose to deceptively hide his declining cognitive fitness. So instead of even mildly engaging in democracy the DNC went this route;
“DNC executive director Sam Cornale put it bluntly: ‘We're with Biden. Period.’
The group also unanimously passed a resolution during their February winter meeting expressing its "full and complete support" for a second term for Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.” (ABC)
Then a year later after Biden’s disastrous debate performance against Trump, Biden’s mental decline became too obvious and undeniable to keep him in the race. I recorded Drop Out Joe! in July urging Bernie Sanders to jump into the race while retaining Kamala Harris as VP in order to save America from a 2nd Trump term. At that time it was obvious that Biden had no remaining path to victory due to voters’ old age concerns combined with around 1 million uncommitted voters in the Democratic primary. One million people took time out of their lives to vote in the Democratic primary to choose nobody at all as protest votes against Biden’s Israel policy. Turns out aiding and abetting genocide is not a good election year strategy for Democrats. Bernie didn’t have that issue or the issue of cognitive decline. More importantly, Bernie was by far the most popular politician in America and by far the best qualified to defeat Donald Trump. So I argued;
Joe Biden needs to step down, not only because of his cognitive decline, but because he is no longer the best fit candidate to try to defeat Donald Trump.
The best fit candidate to defeat Donald Trump is Bernie Sanders…
Joe Biden has actually had historically low interactions with journalists. even turning down an interview right before the Super Bowl, so they've given a massive impression that they are hiding Joe Biden. But unlike Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders has actually had many public appearances in which he's spoken for 20, 30, 40 minutes at a time, and he is very clearly not in cognitive decline. And he has been the main person in Congress pushing for lower drug prices for the American people, frequently subpoenaing the heads of pharmaceutical companies and getting them to lower their prices dramatically after the hearing, where it is many times hours long with Bernie Sanders leading the entire thing. Bernie Sanders has also been leading hearings in Congress to take on union busting from American corporations like Starbucks. Yes, Bernie Sanders is old, but no, that has not affected his performance. He actually seems to be at the peak of his career, and I think the culmination of all that he has accomplished makes him the most deserving and electable candidate to beat Donald Trump. If Kamala Harris stays as Vice President and Joe Biden drops out, Bernie could replace Joe Biden at the top of the ticket. They would still have access to the entire Joe Biden-Kamala Harris campaign money, and pair with that Bernie Sanders' record number of small-dollar donors contributing to his campaign. If that were to happen, you would have Bernie Sanders who truly represents economic reform that the American people want, and true political reform against the corruption that has plagued Washington, D.C.
So not only would we replace the We Saved Medicare guy with the guy who's been in Congress leading the hearings taking on the pharmaceutical executives, we would also take away Donald Trump's biggest strength. Because his main appeal has always been that he is an outsider who is willing to take on the corruption in Washington, D.C., And for Trump, that is all empty rhetoric. But for Bernie Sanders, he has actually been advocating for years for the policy proposals and the ideology necessary for America to actually get rid of that corruption. So I think Bernie Sanders is the most well-equipped candidate in the 2024 election to defeat Donald Trump.
In every way that Joe Biden is a bad candidate for 2024, Bernie Sanders is a great candidate. Every good thing that Joe Biden has done, Bernie Sanders has a rightful claim to having pulled Joe Biden in the right direction. And despite being older than both Trump and Biden, Bernie Sanders displays a higher level of cognitive fitness than either of them. So if you do not want to risk that Trump will win the 2024 election, it's time for Joe Biden to step down. and a Sanders-Harris campaign is one that I could get behind…
America needs a new political savior to save us from both Trump and Biden. That person is Bernie Sanders!
Sadly even Bernie didn’t want to make another run at the White House; makes sense after his the last two well-executed campaigns were ruined by DNC elites going against their own voters. So Bernie did not enter the race, but there was still a debate as to whether there would be a Democratic Primary at all before the Democratic National Convention or if Kamala Harris would be undemocratically appointed as the party nominee with absolutely no input from voters. I came down on the side of a primary process and accurately predicted that skipping democracy to anoint Kamala Harris as the nominee would make her lose to Trump in the general election. I said;
Many left-leaning political commentators want the nomination to go to Kamala without question, but an important question needs to be asked which many people don’t want to ask. Is Kamala Harris even able to beat Trump? Or are we replacing Biden who has no path to victory with Harris who only has a slim chance with the odds of a coin flip?..
Although Kamala Harris is the rightful successor to the Biden Administration, that does not mean she is a strong candidate. Remember in the Democratic Primary for the 2020 election she started at around 5% support, shortly peaked at 15%, then reverted back to 5% and dropped out even before the primary in her home state. In order to avoid the humiliation and embarrassment, an ex-staffer reportedly said dropping out early was preferable because “It’s better than finishing fifth in California” (CNN)…
If Kamala were to lose to Trump in November after having an uncontested coronation as the nominee, it wouldn’t even be the first time an unpopular heir-apparent would’ve given us 4 years of a Trump Presidency. The first time that happened was with Hillary Clinton in 2016. By analyzing the differences between 2016 and 2020, Democrats can avoid making the same mistakes…
Instead of slow-walking into another 4 years of Trump, Democrats should instead mimic the 2020 election cycle. Joe Biden did not get himself elected from his basement; the Democratic primary led by Bernie Sanders ushered in a policy agenda, a Democratic platform, which energized voters and won Biden the election…
If Kamala Harris or any Democratic nominee is going to beat Donald Trump in November, it cannot be through an anti-democratic coronation of entitlement and campaign of Trump-Bad, Vote-Blue-No-Matter-Who. Instead the democrats need to host a series of debates and a process for many prominent Democrats to participate in an expedited primary before or during the DNC Convention. Voters could actually participate through proposing questions for the candidates and voting online for which topics they should debate. Even in the likely event that Kamala wins the nomination through that process, a Democratic Party platform will be widely discussed and propelled into the mainstream dialogue right before an election. Kamala would then appear as a tried-and-true nominee who beat other Democrats rather than the heir-apparent chosen by insider elites. That process would also have enormous benefits for any Democrat who ends up in the general election as well as the entire party in the House and Senate. If democracy is really at stake in this election, shouldn’t the Democratic Party at least try practicing it themselves?..
Kamala Harris could bolster the entire Democratic Party by participating in a process of primary debates leading up to the democratic convention. That process would be a vital step in keeping the Democrats in power in the Senate as well as helping democrats flip the House. If Kamala Harris is anointed as the nominee, I think she will lose the general election. If there is a robust primary, I think any Democrat who emerges would defeat Donald Trump. I hope she is given the opportunity to earn the nomination and win the White House instead of having the nomination gifted to her just to lose the general election. I hope DNC insiders do not take away that vital step in this election cycle.
Kamala Harris: Hillary Clinton 2.0? - Philosophical Rebellion
Democratic elites are now going around blaming and scapegoating every minority group in America in a truly Onion-esque fashion;
But they are failing to engage in serious self reflection. Voters are not to blame for Democrats losing the elections, Democratic politicians are to blame.
By refusing to participate in a Democratic primary in 2023, Joe Biden gave us Donald Trump.
By gaslighting about Biden’s declining cognitive fitness, Democratic elites gave us Donald Trump.
By heartlessly aiding and abetting genocidal war crimes committed by the apartheid state of Israel, Genocide Joe and Kamala “I’m Speaking” Harris gave us Donald Trump.
By undemocratically anointing Kamala Harris as the nominee with no primary at all after Biden dropped out, Harris and the DNC gave us Donald Trump.
But going back even further, Bernie most likely would have won in 2016 and we could be ending the 2nd term of the Bernie Sanders administration right now. So don’t forget how this all started; by stealing the 2016 primary from Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton gave us Donald Trump. The Democrats who refused to ever support Bernie Sanders gave us Donald Trump. Krystal Ball is absolutely right, Bernie Would Have Won!
