Trump Ends International Law
Donald Trump announced his plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza of Palestinians for annexation & development. While officially ending US support for a 2 state solution, he is openly endorsing war crimes.
“Trump vows US will ‘take over’ Gaza Strip.” -Fox News
Donald Trump is publicly announcing his plan to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza and have them relocated somewhere in Jordan or Egypt or some other country in the region. He made it clear that he does not plan to buy Gaza, just take it and hold it using the United States military if necessary.
Trump’s plan has been rejected by Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia as well as by the Palestinians themselves. This plan received widespread international opposition including from Germany, France, Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Spain, Iran, Russia, and China. Nearly every other nation on Earth clearly sees this plan for what it is; a blatant violation of international law. Ever since October 7th, Joe Biden did everything he could to make a mockery of international law. Now Trump is tearing the whole international rules based system of law and order façade down completely. The United States military is strong and he is the Commander-in-Chief, so Trump is announcing that he will commit war crimes and crimes against humanity and nobody can stop him.
Trump has used the fact that Gaza is rubble and uninhabitable to justify ethnic cleansing, but he was next to Benjamin Netanyahu the war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court for his destruction of Gaza.
The ICC found reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu was guilty of;
“a widespread and systematic attack against the civilian population of Gaza,”
“the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare,”
“inflicting great suffering by means of inhumane acts,”
& “the war crime of intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population of Gaza” -ICC
In 2023 when the war began Israeli military officials said, “the emphasis is on damage and not on accuracy.” Within the first week of the war the “Israeli Air Force said in a tweet that it had dropped 6,000 munitions since the start of the war, averaging 1,000 bombs a day.” By December it was reported that “40-45% of the 29,000 air-to-surface munitions dropped on Gaza by then were…unguided munitions.” More than a year on it is estimated that “Israel’s military has dropped over 85,000 tonnes of bombs on the Gaza Strip since October 2023.” In fact, look at these before and after photos from the Guardian expose how Israel’s bombing campaign turned Gaza into rubble;

All that destruction and rubble is a direct result of Benjamin Netanyahu’s war crimes. Matter of fact, Netanyahu planned to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza or exterminate the population in order to take over the territory for his entire political career. Achieving total control of Palestinian land is even part of the Likud party platform in Israel. So, Netanyahu enacted his genocidal ambitions using October 7th as justification which Biden helped facilitate. Since October 7th, it has become the consensus of the world’s leading human rights organizations and legal bodies that Israel has committed the crime of genocide in Gaza. That is the view of
A United Nations Special Committee designed to answer that question
The International Court of Justice found genocide plausible then ordered Israel to halt its military campaign and prevent the crime of genocide from taking place
All in addition to the International Criminal Court where the lead prosecutor found reasonable grounds to request an arrest warrant for Netanyahu. That arrest warrant was validated by a 3 judge panel for the ICC confirming its legitimacy before officially being issued. Now Netanyahu is a wanted war criminal. Trump also estimated that he plans to relocate between 1.7-1.9 million Palestinians. Since there were over 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza when Israel’s genocide began, we have an updated death count of between 300,000 and 500,000 Palestinians killed since October 7th. So to reiterate, Israel was an apartheid state before the war which had violently put down Palestinian non-violent resistance numerous times.
Why Israel is considered an Apartheid State
Apartheid was a system of racial discrimination practiced in South Africa from 1948-1994 as a way for the white population to maintain their domination of the predominantly black population through institutionalized laws and practices that favored white people while harming black people. The apartheid system in South Africa was so heinous that…
That apartheid system combined with the failure of non-violent political reform provoked the October 7th attack. The apartheid state of Israel was attacked by the population living under their oppression so they kickstarted what nearly every legitimate human rights organization in the entire world has deemed a genocide. That genocide destroyed Palestinian civil society, basic infrastructure, and left thousands of unexploded munitions in the destruction. Now Trump is using the justification of Gaza being rubble to justify his proposed ethnic cleansing and annexation.
But is the world ready to just lie down and submit to Trump? Trump already announced his other plans to eventually take over Greenland and the Panama Canal and he even wants to take Canada and make it a state. And what about Mexico? Trump deployed thousands of US troops to the Southern Border and recently classified the Cartels as terrorist organizations. These war crimes in Gaza are just Trump dipping his toe in the water; if the world lets him get away with it there’s no telling how far he’ll go or who he’ll attack in the future. How is anyone in the world going to push back on Trump later when we all just stand by and watch Trump commit ethnic cleansing and annexation on the other side of the world on behalf of an apartheid state that just committed genocidal war crimes for over a year?
So, are we all just left to do absolutely nothing but watch? Sadly, yes. Republicans control all three branches of government and there is no international actor which Trump views as a check on his use of power. Additionally, mainstream media in America like Fox News is basically Trump-TV; they whitewash his war crimes and report on him with a truly psychotic level of sycophantic praise and adulation. Trump is essentially king of the world with his own media networks and social media sites promoting his propaganda. It feels like nobody can stop him. In large part we have Joe Biden and the Democrats to thank for creating this situation, but the ultimate fault lies with Trump and the GOP for the war crimes and crimes against humanity they plan to commit.
There is a solution that could have prevented Trump from doing his worst and I have been advocating for it for a while in these papers;
It is time for the United States to join onto the International Criminal Court and hold our own war criminals accountable. Bringing our government under the Court’s jurisdiction and encouraging the prosecution of American war criminals would stop Trump, and every other future US President from committing so many war crimes. At this point in time, that is not an option nor anywhere within the realm of possibilities.
But international pressure on America to make that change could force it into the mainstream dialogue globally and especially within the United States. Sadly today holding war criminals accountable would mean locking up hundreds of politicians in the United States so they would do everything in their power to oppose joining the ICC. Trump’s Republican party threatened economic oblivion even against our allies if they uphold the ICC arrest warrant issued for Benjamin Netanyahu. If the world starts demanding American war criminals be held accountable for their war crimes, it would be a much-needed Earth-shattering political shift with devastating consequences and pushback.
So how could that ever become a possibility? It would require Trump and the GOP to pay a hefty political cost for their war crimes and that has to come from international pressure and a new domestic dialogue. It really depends on how far the world is willing to go to push back on Trump and it would require international cooperation from our allies and adversaries alike. If enough of the world demanded that the United States join into the ICC, it would force a national discussion on the topic. If that demand were backed by tangible consequences for Trump, then it would be even more powerful. Then, the Democratic Party could unite around that idea and make it a major agenda issue for 2028, meaning Trump would be threatened with the possibility that in a few years he might get in trouble for war crimes he is planning to start right now. Yes the situation is really that desperate. But for now the first step is starting the discussion of bringing United States military conduct into compliance with the standards of international law. I hope the world forces that conversation to reign in the worst impulses of Donald Trump.
“In the face of President Trump’s dangerous threats, it’s more important than ever for the rest of the international community to categorically reject these proposals and expedite diplomatic efforts, in line with international law, to end Israel’s unlawful occupation, dismantle apartheid and uphold human rights for Palestinians and Israelis. History has abundantly demonstrated that sidelining international law for political expediency is a recipe for the perpetuation of violations.”
