My main point is to encourage human rights conditions to be enforced on US aid to Israel. The United States of America already has the Leahy laws meant to prohibit the US from funding war crimes, but Israel is exempted from those laws. If the United States enforced the Leahy laws rather than exempting Israel, then the Israeli government would be forced to stop the war crimes of collective punishment and indiscriminate bombing. Israel cannot continue down this plausibly genocidal path without the unconditional financial and military support of the American government. By just enforcing current US law, Biden could singlehandedly stop the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Gaza. So I encourage Democratic primary voters to vote uncommitted; we need to send a message to American representatives, especially the Biden administration, that the American people do not support war crimes. We will not vote for Biden unless he stops pledging unconditional US support to a foreign government plausibly engaged in a genocide according to the International Court of Justice.
I also wrote this message which I hope you’ll share with your own elected representatives;
Hello,
I’m writing to express my opposition to unconditional Untied States support for Israel. The apartheid government of Israel is currently engaged in the war crimes of collective punishment and indiscriminate bombing. According to the International Court of Justice, those war crimes plausibly amount to an ongoing Genocide. War crimes and crimes against humanity do not represent American values or interests; the Leahy Laws represent American values. The Leahy Laws prohibit the United States from financially or militarily supporting foreign security services engaged in gross violations of human rights. Unfortunately, Israel is exempted from the Leahy vetting process. The government of Israel should not be exempted from United States laws designed to protect human rights. American support for Israel should be conditional instead of unconditional. American opposition to war crimes should be unconditional. Please support enforcement of the Leahy Laws on United States aid to Israel.
Sincerely,
An American opposed to war crimes
